Since 2002, City of God gives school, care and a trade, free, to the people of Old Fadama, in the heart of Accra.
Who we are
We receive, and we give free to those in need.
City of God is a charitable centre of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, in the settlement of Old Fadama next to Agbogbloshie market. Following Christ, Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Josephine Bakhita, it offers basic education, health care, beads craft and tailoring classes.
Since July 2002 it is directed by Fr. Subash Chittilappilly. The name was given by Archbishop Charles Palmer-Buckle: “It is not right to call this place Sodom and Gomorrah.”
The work has a face.

Peace Adults School
Night classes, Monday to Friday, 7.30 to 9.30 pm: reading, writing and English for adults who never sat on a school bench.
Since 2017
Holy Bakhita Clinic
A small clinic opened on 2 January 2017, thanks to Venetian doctors and Italian friends.
“In a short time the school got the respect of people, and embarrassment gave way to pride.”
From the first night class in a pito bar in 2003 to the new school inaugurated with the Archbishop of Accra on 4 March 2025, the door has never closed. Not even after the fire of September 2006, when the school was rebuilt by the end of the year.
